Ficlet | The day following Edward and Jacob’s meet in the green near the treaty line was warmer than anyone thought possible in Folks. Carlisle said it was the first time he could remember not being able to count one cloud in the sky, and Carlisle had a long memory. Unable to go into work or school, and with the weather predicted to remain clear for the week, as was tradition, Carlisle and Esme had announced a family hunt in the mountains. “Are you sure we can’t persuade you to join us?” Carlisle asked, concern on his mind, “you haven’t eaten in days.” “No,” Edward said absently from the window in his room, “thank you, but I’d rather stay in case Bella calls.” “As you wish,” he said, “just stay in the house.” “I will,” Edward said, although he had planned nothing of the sort. With Bella due back any day — and bound to want to see Jacob just as soon as she was — and with Jacob likely not to wish to have anything further to do with him, he had to make sure he wouldn’t tell. He found Jacob in the shed near his house, readying his bike for a ride. He knew from Jacob’s thoughts that his presence was known, but Jacob didn’t want to look at him, wheeling the bike into the opening. “Jacob,” he said in little more than a whisper. The sight of Edward in the sun silenced the angry and hurting thoughts swirling about his mind. Like crystals catching light in the shallows, tiny yellow beams radiated from Edward’s pores, casting reflections across Jacob’s face as he looked directly at him, as if seeing him for the first time. “You really should spend more time in the sun,” Jacob said with a slight grin, “you’re positively glowing.” But beneath the light-heartedness — and mixed together with pain and desire — was a simple thought his wounded heart wouldn’t let him voice, you’re beautiful. Edward noted that the sun seemed to agree with Jacob equally, warming further the tones in his skin, heating the scent that came from him and that Edward had come to desire so much. Cross-armed and leaned against the bike, “what can I do for you,“ he said. Again with more air than words, finding it difficult to look at him in the eyes, Edward mumbled, “I wanted to know if you were going to tell Bella,” he said, “about us,” after a pause. “I see,” Jacob said, the anger in him taking over, “I should have known, why else would you come to see me?” “Jacob.” “Surely not to check how I was doing.” “Jacob.” “That would require you giving a damn.” “Jacob,” said Edward slumping further and further with each of his remarks. “You came to ask me to lie, to not ruin your precious life any further,” he got on his bike and started the motor. “Jacob,” Edward said, his head downcast, but Jacob was spinning dust before he could finish. Although he hadn’t needed food in near on one hundred years, the idea that Jacob believed even one of the things he’d said in anger made Edward sick to the stomach.

Notes | If you wanted to clobber Edward last time round, keep ’em coming for part five. Miserable about his decision to end things with Jacob, Edward is anxious that the fate he’s committed himself to will fall through if Jacob spills the beans. And so, asks Jacob to lie for him (not his finest moment). This manip was my first attempt at a sparkly, sunlit Edward, something I was keen for Jacob to see. This entry was cross-posted to jakeward, twilight_slash, rpattz_taycob, twi_cwc and twilightmanips, which is why it is not friends locked. If you’re visiting from one of these communities and you’d like to see more of my manips, comment on my friends only entry, but be warned, much of my work is sexually explicit.

Beautiful. The picture that is...

...the story, sadly, still makes me want to kick Edward in the head. I guess that's to be expected. The angst, however, will make the happy ending all the more sweeter~

Until next time!!

Thanks so much :o). It is a little angsty isn't it? But you're right, hopefully it will make for an all the more sweetened end. Thanks for tuning in.

this on my level
So far this is the only manip i have seen you do that I could do. with Gimp 2 and paintshop pro 2 and you did do well on it. It makes me think of those times we have to go someone that we do not wont to. But that we know there is no other choice that we have.

Another good manip. There's nothing hotter than Jacob on his bike, except perhaps a naked Jacob on his bike.

Keep up the good work. Loving the fic so far.

Haha, agreed. Thanks :).
